Driver reinstalls are the most common advice for a yellow or too-warm Intel laptop screen — and they almost never fix it. Here's what's actually holding the tint in place.

You searched for a fix, found the same advice everywhere — “uninstall and reinstall your Intel graphics driver” — and did it. Downloaded the latest driver from Intel’s site or Device Manager, uninstalled the old one, rebooted, installed the new one.

The screen is still yellow.

This is one of the most common dead-end fixes for a warm-tinted Intel laptop display, and it’s worth understanding exactly why it doesn’t work, because the reason points straight at what actually will.

Why a Driver Reinstall Doesn’t Touch the Real Cause

A graphics driver reinstall does one specific thing: it wipes and reinstalls the software that lets your GPU talk to Windows and render pixels. What it does not do is touch anything living outside that driver — and on a warm-screen problem, the actual cause is almost always outside it.

Three things commonly hold a yellow tint in place, and none of them are part of the graphics driver package:

  2. Open the Night light settings and confirm the toggle is off.
  3. Check the Schedule section — if it’s set to “Sunset to sunrise” or a custom window, it’ll turn itself back on later regardless of what you just did.
  4. If it says off but the screen is still tinted, turn it on, drag the Strength slider to 0, then turn it off — this forces Windows to re-apply a clean profile rather than leaving a stale one in place.

2. Manufacturer Eye-Care Software

Check whichever of these is installed on your specific laptop, since only one is relevant to you:
